Professor Dr. Ahmed Ijaz Masood is a renowned doctor in the oncology circle of Pakistan. He is known for his friendly and helping attitude, dedication and commitment towards the cancer patients. He has more than 20 years experience of treating cancer patients. He has been a popular teacher of Physiology and Oncology with a teaching experience of 23 years. He is the Founder member and General Secretary of Cancer Society Multan. This is an organization working for the care and rehabilitation of poor cancer patients in Multan and surrounding areas since 1995. He is Ex Executive Council Member of the Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology. He is also the Founder Member of the Cancer Research Group Foundation.
He is the Member of the Faculty of Clinical Oncology, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (2011 to date). He is the Convener of post graduate programs of different universities including the Diploma in Medical Radiology Therapeutics (DMRT) of the University of Health Sciences. He is also an Examiner for the fellowship examination of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in the subject of Clinical Oncology and Examiner for MD and DMRT programs of different universities. He is a Member of the Advisory Panel for the Pakistan Medical Research Council (PMRC) for cancer registration in Pakistan (June 2010 to date).
He has been working in the Department of Clinical Oncology at Nishtar Medical College for more than 20 years in different cadres, initially as Registrar and subsequently as Assistant Professor and now as Professor. He is incharge of the House Jobs at the institute, Staff President of Audio-Visual Society and Squash Club of the College. He has been Ex Chairman of the Inspection committee of the institute and also Ex Staff President of the Blood Donor Society. He is a Reviewer for various medical journals including the Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences, Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and PJMR Pakistan
Professor Dr. Ijaz Masood has contributed his various International and National Research Trials. His scientific work has been presented in both national and internationals forums, in proceedings of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), proceedings of European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). He is also a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
He has widely travelled across Europe and North America. He has extensively participated in International Scientific meetings, symposia, seminars and workshops. He has continuously kept himself updated in the recent Medical Advances and has regularly participated in Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
He is a popular and much respected teacher, having taught both undergraduates and post graduates for the last 23 years. He has delivered many lectures at various forums. His subjects of interest are Head & Neck Cancer, Breast Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Lung Cancer, and Sarcomas.
He is the Project Director the Cancer Institute being developed at Nishtar Hospital Multan. He has worked hard for the development of this Cancer Institute in the South Punjab.
Nishtar Hospital Multan provides cancer treatment not only to South Punjab but also to a large area of Baluchistan. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ijaz Masood has played a pivotal role in the establishment of this Cancer Centre in Multan. He has joined the Cancer Research & Treatment Foundation as an active member to contribute in the establishment of Cancer Care Hospital & Research Centre at Lahore.
